LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (MOUNTAIN CITY)

-Demonstrate ability to serve as a responsible member of the nursing team and interact with patients, family members, professional and supportive personnel who provide patient care, and with members of other services. -Assist with answering the phone, conveying messages timely to the appropriate staff, placing calls/pages as needed. -Participate in evaluation of nursing care through attendance and provide input at team conferences. Present a patient for team conference as assigned by the NM. -Make assignment recommendations for volunteers, work study students, IT and CWT, as required. -Participate in planning program presentations for unit in-service education. Present unit in-service as assigned or more frequently. -Assist in orientation of new personnel. -Function in collaboration with the registered nurse in identifying needs of patients and carrying out assignments. -Assist the RN with admission of a patient. -Function as one-to-one nurse in Primary Care under the direct supervision of the NM. -Demonstrate the ability to utilize the computer independently, for obtaining patient information and maintaining accurate input of data. -Assist with diagnostic procedures such as physical exams, ensuring the use of sterile technique when appropriate. -Performs peripheral venous blood sampling for the purpose of laboratory tests, when laboratory support is unavailable. -Perform bladder scans as ordered. -Prepare patient for and obtain 12 lead EKG's per training and facility procedure guidelines. -Accurately obtain and document measurements, such as vital signs, pain, weights, finger sticks for glucose monitoring, intake and output and pulse oximetry to include documentation of oxygen flow rate/room air and route Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) at the time the program was completed by the applicant. Licensure. Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to as a graduate licensed practical or vocational nurse in any State. English Language Proficiency. Nurses appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 USC 4105, 4114(f) and 5010(b). Preferred

In addition to the Basic Requirements, applicants must also meet Grade Requirements as indicated in the qualification standard. The candidate's qualifications must clearly demonstrate the level of competence required for the grade. GS-6:
Completion of at least 1 year of additional qualifying experience at the GS-5 level or equivalent, fully meeting all performance requirements for the GS-6 LPN/LVN. References:

The LPN must be able to perform work that requires regular and recurrent walking, bending, lifting 45 pounds or more, stooping, reaching, stretching, and similar activities supporting various weights. This also includes frequently pushing medication carts, wheelchairs, lifts, and beds. The incumbent must be able to care for Veterans with various medical and psychiatric issues. At times, these Veterans exhibit unpredictable behavior. He/she must be able to work closely with others, have sufficient hearing to respond to various alarms, and must be able to communicate verbal and in writing.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
